Lakers Still in the Chris Paul Sweepstakes

Sources have told ESPN that the Los Angeles Lakers are still angling to land all-star point guard Chris Paul.

“The Lakers are definitely still in this,” a source told ESPN.

On Monday it looked like Paul was headed to LA, however it was to the Clippers not the Lakers. Those talks died down due to the Hornets extremely high asking price.

The Lakers were thought to be out of the running, after pulling out of negotiations this past weekend and trading Lamar Odom to Dallas. It was thought that the Lakers had shifted their focus to trying to land Magic superstar, Dwight Howard. However it now looks like they are still in the running for CP3. The Lakers are using Pau Gasol as the centerpiece of the deal and are looking for a third team to infuse the deal with young talent.

Bryant’s new suitor is the Italian team, Virtus Bologna, and they seem to be a much more serious option for Bryant. They have been in serious talks for several weeks now and have proposed several different contracts to Bryant’s agents.  Continue reading

“Kobe has not agreed with any team on anything. He is conducting due diligence and weighing various options,” the source told ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard. Continue reading on ESPN
