Magic End Trade Talks for Dwight Howard for Now

The Orlando Magic have informed teams they are no longer fielding offers for superstar center, Dwight Howard, and  instead plan on starting the season with him in the line-up, according to league sources.

The Magic were in heavy talks with multiple teams to work out a deal for Howard. The latest buzz was that the Magic, Nets, and Trailblazers were working on a 3-team deal that involved Howard, Nets center Brook Lopez, Trail Blazers forward Gerald Wallace and draft picks. According to sources the Trailblazers stood to gain four first round picks in the deal.

The Nets have been working feverishly to land Howard, according to Chad Ford of ESPN ”the Nets offered everything they could for Howard: Brook Lopez + FIVE 1st Rd picks. Theirs in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 + Rockets 2012 pick.”

While the Magic are publicly saying they aren’t going to discuss trades at this time I find it hard to believe that they would turn down an offer that they felt compensated them fairly. This seems to be one last ploy to try anything they can to sign Howard back and possibly work on getting more talent around him in the meantime.
